Examinations | artists reflecting on the Hunter Museum collection at AVA

  • AVA: Association for the Visual Arts 30 Frazier Avenue Chattanooga, TN, 37405 United States (map)

Opening Reception: Friday, July 1 from 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
(in conjunction with AVA's Gallery Grand Reopening)

The Association for Visual Arts announces an exhibit that grew from a partnership with the Hunter Museum of American Art and emerging artists. This exhibit will take place in AVA’s Landis Education Gallery, opening Friday, July 1, and continuing through July 29.

This exhibit highlights thirteen of AVA’s most talented emerging artists. These artists were asked to choose their favorite artwork in the Hunter’s collection and contemplate how it speaks to them personally and informs their artistic practice. They then spoke about the works and their reaction to them on camera. In Examinations, these videos will be shown alongside recent artworks by the thirteen artists.

Artists included in this exhibit are: Timur Akhriev, Anderson Bailey, Jessie Bean, Amanda Brazier, Adriana Caloca, Maria Willison, Aaron Cowan, Rondell Crier, Steven Eddy, Myles Freeman, Josiah Golson, Laura Little, and Heath Montgomery.
