In this two-day workshop, students will learn to sculpt a female torso in water-based clay from an unclothed model. On Friday night, Maria will introduce, demo, and talk about materials and tools. Saturday and Sunday will allow students to work solidly on their sculptures where they will learn how to arrange a clay foundation according to the position, proportion, and planes of the model. Tooling techniques, detail, and surface treatment will be covered. Focusing on just the torso with no appendages will allow students to spend lots of time on the graceful detail of the torso. There will be a one-hour lunch break each day. Feel free to bring your own lunch or enjoy plenty of dining options nearby. Model fee and an armature for each student are included in the workshop fee.
